The Drawing Room may be closed on Monday, but Charles will still be working mixing up cocktails. He is headed to New York City to participate in the Heering Goes Mad (Men) Finals. On May 16th, Charles and the other 3 finalists will gather for a spectacular rooftop party at the Ogilvy Mather building in NYC, the home of the Mad Men agency that inspired the competition. The search is on for the greatest iconic cocktail – good luck Charles!
Join us on Thursday, May 12th at 7pm for a 4-course Spring Cocktail dinner to celebrate the coming season and the amazing food and cocktails available to us in the Midwest. Chef Nick and Chief Mixologist Charles Joly will share their love of the local products available with a limited number of guests that evening. Highlights include the mouthwatering pork chop provided by Becker Lane Farm (Dyersville, IA), local and limited availability produce such as fiddleheads and ramps, cocktails mixed with local spirits such as Death’s Door Spirits (Madison, WI), HUM Botanical & North Shore Distillery (Chicago, IL).
Each course will feature a dish from our new Spring menu that has been hand selected and locally sourced by Chef Nick. His commitment to sustainable ingredients is greater than ever and this dinner will reflect that passion.
Paired with each plate will be a cocktail handcrafted by Charles and the excellent bartenders of the Drawing Room. Each one will feature a local distillery of the Midwest.
As more American brands are being bought by overseas companies, the Drawing Room is staying committed to small batch local products both in the kitchen and behind the bar. Enjoy us for this special dinner honoring these products and hearing directly from Nick and Charles why they selected the ingredients they did and how these decisions help the environment, our community, and your taste buds.
In honor of World Cocktail Week, the Drawing Room will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this dinner to the Museum of the American Cocktail. This organization does great work toward the preservation and education on the history of the bartending and the cocktail in America.
Limited space available. Check back for more details or call 312.266.2694 to reserve your seat!
Next week the Chicago Green City Market moves outdoors and into full bloom in Lincoln Park. This year-round farmers’ market is an excellent source of local produce and meats, connecting local farmers with hungry Chicagoans every Wednesday and Saturday.
Nick and Charles are looking forward to having the market back and utilizing the freshest ingredients possible in the new spring menu. The start of the season is always full of asparagus and rhubarb, which peaks in the Midwest this time of year. Chef Nick is taking advantage of these great ingredients in the new Pork Porterhouse. A 12oz organic pork chop served with rhubarb, grilled asparagus, preserved Meyer lemon, and marjoram.
Rain or shine, Chef Nick will be cruising the market stalls next week and bring these fresh local ingredients to your plate in the Drawing Room!
